Situated at Douglas City Council’s waste treatment facility in Braddan, this bespoke steel building was designed to house the machinery used in the processing of waste refuse and recyclable materials.
Following a rigorous selection process, our solution was chosen for its price and time-to-market advantage, as well as its environmental credentials, offering the lowest carbon footprint among the options considered. The project was delivered in collaboration with our approved partners EG Services, who carried out the site preparation, groundworks and erection of the steel structure. The client also recognised the value of supporting local Isle of Man businesses, with both GRQ Consulting Ltd and EG Services contributing to the successful delivery of the scheme.
The completed building comprises a 16m x 12m dual-pitch steel structure with a 5.95m eaves height, finished in Goosewing Grey non-insulated cladding. Designed to provide a durable and practical operational environment, the facility supports the day-to-day processing activities carried out on site. Delivered in just 12 weeks, the project was completed on time and within budget, providing the client with a cost-effective solution and a facility that fully meets their operational requirements.

Design & Groundworks
Following a rigorous selection process, the project was awarded based on its environmental credentials and efficient design. Groundworks were then completed in preparation for construction.
Steel Frame Erection
Following completion of the groundworks, the bespoke dual-pitch portal steel structure was manufactured, delivered to site and erected all within 12 weeks providing a robust, durable, corrosion-resistant, and maintenance-free structure capable of supporting the facility’s operational requirements for years to come.
Cladding & Commissioning
The final phase included the installation of Goosewing Grey non-insulated cladding and completion of all finishing works. Delivered on time and within budget, the completed facility provides a durable and practical environment for housing essential waste processing equipment.
